Autism support is a private initiative specialising in care and support for children and adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
When parents are told that their child is autistic they will have a long path ahead of them to accept and deal with the problem.
They will need support in working through their feelings, in bringing up their child with autism and coping with the future.
Autistic children need help in their daily lives. This is not easy, it requires a lot of time, patience and awareness of the problems involved.
Autism support offers support
For the child
Teaching understanding and skills
Steering him/her away from problem behaviour
Stimulating the development of the process of independence
For the family
Creating an understanding of the way in which an autistic child thinks
Supporting parents in dealing with their emotions
Autism-specific development support through visualisation: daily programmes, work programmes, leisure programmes
Helping create communication between parents and the child
Close collaboration and consultation with parents
Support in the home environment provides the best chances of success as this is the environment with which the child is most familiar. In all cases support is tailored to the child and his or her "specific" autism and needs.
